Messrs Braxton and Hicks

This morning T woke up to Baby Jae pushing on all fronts. T assumed Baby Jae was stretching, which she has been doing a lot of late, asked her to relax and went back to bed. Later this afternoon the process repeated itself. Only this time T couldn't feel Baby Jae pushing at all. No knees, no butt, no little back arched across T's abdomen, just tense all over. The feeling passed and T was left with an odd, fatigued feeling as if she'd just run off a couple dozen sit-ups. We figured out pretty quick that it was a contraction. T was pretty sure that what she woke up to this morning was also a contraction, making 2 in a 12 (now 18) hour period. That's far less than the 4 in 1 hour to signal the begin of labor so we're not panicking or anything. A bit of re-reading the books and we're confident it's Braxton Hicks contractions, nothing more. We hope.

Mother's Day

We unofficially celebrated Mother's Day yesterday with C's family. I say unofficially because 1) we don't want to jinx ourselves and 2) we are still getting used to the "mommy" and "daddy" labels.

Last weekend we went up to T's family for a co-ed baby shower. Based on a sample size of 2 co-ed showers (ours and a friends), I can say that they are not nearly as weird as they might seem. I got to see people that I normally only see at the holidays and thank them personally for the awesome gifts that they gave us. Baby Jae now has a crib, stroller, car seat, pack-and-play, and tons and tons of PINK clothes, towels, sleepers, blankets, etc. You name it and we have it. In pink.

Belly Love

We had some pictures taken by Baby Jae's great aunt while we were visiting T's parents. She takes beautiful photos. Here's our favorite:
